New Year’s greetings of Vladimir Langin, President of the International Draughts Federation (IDF)
Dear friends! On behalf of the International Draughts Federation IDF and I personally congratulate draughts players, coaches, organizers, officials and all fans of draughts on the New Year!
It became a good tradition before the New Year to think about our past achievements and share plans for the future.
In 2015, draughts-64 successfully continued its development and moved to a new level. The main event of the year was the fact that in October 2015, Section 64 (Russian-Brazilian) withdrew from the FMJD and now operates independently under the brand IDF.
Thus, for the first time in the history of the development of draughts-64 successfully works independent International Draughts Federation, united under its aegis different types of draughts on the traditional 64-cell board. We continue to pursue the development of draughts-64 in the world in all their diversity. Currently our members are 50 national federations, and we are constantly interacting with representatives from more than 60 countries.
Currently, we cooperate well with all of the world’s largest sports organizations to declare itself as a separate sport “Draughts-64” and fully integrate into the world sports family.
October 16, 2015 there was another important event for draughts-64. International Draughts Federation (IDF) has become a member of TAFISA, the world’s leading organization in the field of sport for all. In October 2016, draughts-64 for the first time will participate in the TAFISA World Games, which will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In 2015, according to the calendar a series of major events was held.
In October 2015, in St. Petersburg, World Draughts-64 Championships among men and women (classics, blitz – Russian draughts, rapid- Brazilian draughts) was held with the financial support of the Fund for development and promotion of draughts sport “Russian Draughts”. For the first time in the world championships representatives of 43 countries and 4 continents participated. The prize fund of the championship for the first time amounted to 3 600 000 rubles (about 60 000 $, from which the Brazilian version – 10,000 $).
The World Cup has been further developed.
7 World Cup stages took place in Russia, Italy, the Czech Republic, France and Portugal. 256 players from 24 countries took part in competitions. As part of the World Cup, competitions on Brazilian, Italian, Russian, Czech and Portuguese draughts was held. The total prize fund of the World Cup was more than 12 000 Euros.
The International Draughts Federation paid much attention to children’s sport. European youth Championship in Yaroslavl, Russia and World youth Championship in Bulgaria was held at the high level and on excellent conditions. In both competitions winners in each age group received prizes from the organizers.
World Championships among teams and veterans successfully was held in Bulgaria.
Under the auspices of the International Draughts Federation in the different countries traditional and new international tournaments on draughts-64 were held.
In total more than 1000 players from 48 countries of the world took part in official competitions of the International Draughts Federation IDF in 2015!
Information about our activities operatively published on our official website. The news about draughts-64 activities are watched by fans from 173 countries of the world!
Our activities are also regularly covered on various Internet resources, on television, in newspapers and magazines.
2016 will become an important new stage in the development of draughts-64 in the world and will bring to our work a lot of new.
In the coming days will start work a new website of the International Draughts Federation.
As an independent organization, we have prepared and will soon publish on our site the new documents, such as the rules of conferring titles, rules of the game and competitions in draughts-64, the rules of the World Cup in 2016, etc.
We will assign our own international titles for players and referees. In December 2015 we adopted the title for players and referees
made in previous years and automatic title 2015, which was not adopted General Assembly of FMJD in October 2015.
In 2016 the following important activities planned:
TAFISA World Games, which will be held in October 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
European Draughts-64 Championships among men and women (Russian and Brazilian draughts) for the first time are planned in Georgia.
Negotiations on the 1st championship of Africa are now underway.
7 World Cup will be held in Italy, Russia, France, Portugal and, for the first time in Israel, with the inclusion of these tournaments in Russian, Brazilian, Italian and Portuguese draughts. The prize fund, as on steps, and in the overall World Cup will be increased.
The World Youth Championship traditionally will be held in Bulgaria, the European Youth Championship for the
first time will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The issue of using in the official competition new tables for draw of debuts and new forms of competition is considered now.
The members of the International Draughts Federation will get different preferences:
Assignment of international titles;
Reception (room and board) at the expense of the organizers:
For adult championships – one participant from each country – a member of the International Draughts Federation for men and for women;
For Youth Championships – at least four members from each country – a member of the International Draughts Federation (one player in the age groups 19, 16, 13, 10 years – boy or girl);
For World Cup – in accordance with the regulations of the World Cup;
etc.
Specially created Fund for development and promotion of draughts sport “Russian Draughts” will continue to support of our federation.
We will be actively carry out a lot of work on establish of the international contacts and involvement in our organization new countries.
We will have new activities and projects for the development of draughts-64 in the world.
I remind you that after the release of the Section-64 (Russian-Brazilian) from the FMJD only International Draughts Federation (IDF) conducts legitimate official draughts-64 championships in the world. In the case of participation of players in the world and continental championships organized by other organizations, these players will not be able to take part in competitions organized by the International Draughts Federation (IDF).
